Origin
Honduras is an exciting region for specialty coffee roasters and enthusiasts. Coffee trees are grown in volcanic soil, which gives them their eclectic taste profile – from lively acidity to complex fruity flavours.

Coffee plantations in the highlands of western Honduras.
The climate in Honduras is perfect for coffee cultivation, with plenty of sun and rain. The beans are strictly 100% High-Grown – they are cultivated 1000–1250 metres above sea level. At this altitude, refreshing winds graze mountain ridges, and the nights are cold. The low temperatures and shade from nearby foliage allow the coffee cherries to ripen at a low pace. This ensures the development of the most optimal flavours. Coffee beans grown at higher altitudes tend to have more complex flavours. The citrus notes in this high grown Honduran coffee are achieved due to cultivation at high elevations.
These biologically-grown coffee cherries are handpicked and washed with clear water. The careful cultivation and harvest processes result in a smooth, round cup of coffee with well-balanced notes of citrus and cocoa, ending with a thick creamy finish.
Honduran coffee and the government’s initiatives

Freshly harvested coffee cherries.
Today, Honduras is the largest producer of coffee in Central America. The demand for specialty coffee has increased exponentially, and the quality of Honduras’ coffee beans have improved proportionally. The Honduran government has passed laws to provide fiscal incentives to coffee producers and built highways to increase access to more remote coffee farms. With the cooperation between the Honduran government and coffee producers, Honduras’ coffee can now rival many popular producers in Central America for competitive prices.
